Introduction

Airbus Series Evolution Vol.1 is not just a repackage of the old Airbus Series Vol.1 Deluxe. It is a major technological improvement that adds new features and systems that are typical of the Airbus philosophy. You will be able to enjoy a highly advanced weather radar, a head-up display, a realistic flight management system, a fly-by-wire system, and many more. You will also be able to customize your panel layout, your payload and fuel load, your ground services and jetways, and your liveries.


Airbus Series Evolution Vol.1 is designed for anyone who wants to discover the fascinating world of fly-by-wire technology and Airbus high-end systems. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, you will find a user's manual that will teach you step by step all the systems and procedures. You will also have three operating modes to choose from: engines running, ready for take-off, or cold and dark on the apron.

Aircraft Included




Airbus Series Evolution Vol.1 includes four models of the Airbus A320 family: A318, A319, ACJ (corporate jet), and A320. It also includes an upgrade for the A321 model that was previously released in Airbus Series Vol.1 Deluxe.


The Airbus A320 family is a series of narrow-body airliners that share a common design and cockpit. They are among the most popular and successful aircraft in the world, with over 10,000 units delivered to date. They are known for their high efficiency, reliability, safety, and comfort.


The Airbus A318 is the smallest member of the A320 family. It can carry up to 132 passengers in a single-class configuration or up to 107 passengers in a two-class configuration. It has a range of up to 3,100 nautical miles (5,740 km) and a maximum take-off weight of 68 tonnes.


The Airbus A319 is a slightly larger version of the A318. It can carry up to 160 passengers in a single-class configuration or up to 124 passengers in a two-class configuration. It has a range of up to 3,700 nautical miles (6,850 km) and a maximum take-off weight of 75.5 tonnes.


The Airbus ACJ (Airbus Corporate Jet) is a variant of the A319 that is designed for VIP transport and business aviation. It can carry up to 19 passengers in a luxurious cabin that can be customized according to the customer's preferences. It has a range of up to 6,000 nautical miles (11,100 km) and a maximum take-off weight of 76 tonnes.


The Airbus A320 is the baseline model of the A320 family. It can carry up to 180 passengers in a single-class configuration or up to 150 passengers in a two-class configuration. It has a range of up to 3,300 nautical miles (6,150 km) and a maximum take-off weight of 78 tonnes.


The Airbus A321 is an extended version of the A320. It can carry up to 220 passengers in a single-class configuration or up to 185 passengers in a two-class configuration. It has a range of up to 3,000 nautical miles (5,600 km) and a maximum take-off weight of 93.5 tonnes.

Systems and Procedures




Airbus Series Evolution Vol.1 simulates the complex systems and procedures that are typical of the Airbus A320 family. You will be able to use the following features and systems:


Weather Radar




The weather radar is a useful tool that allows you to detect and avoid areas of precipitation and turbulence. It is integrated with the navigation display (ND) and can be controlled by the multifunction control and display unit (MCDU). You can adjust the range, tilt, mode, and gain of the weather radar and see the different colors that indicate the intensity of the precipitation.


Head-Up Display (HUD)




The head-up display (HUD) is a device that projects important flight information onto a transparent screen in front of the pilot's eyes. It allows you to keep your eyes outside the cockpit and maintain situational awareness. The HUD shows information such as airspeed, altitude, attitude, heading, flight path vector, flight mode, and navigation data. You can use the HUD in both day and night conditions and in different weather situations.


Navigation




The navigation system of Airbus Series Evolution Vol.1 is based on the flight management system (FMS) that calculates and manages the flight plan. You can enter and modify the flight plan using the MCDU or import it from an external file. You can also use different navigation aids such as VOR, DME, NDB, ILS, GPS, and RNAV. The navigation system is integrated with the autopilot and the autothrust and provides guidance for lateral and vertical navigation.


SID/STAR Management




SID (standard instrument departure) and STAR (standard terminal arrival route) are procedures that define the routes for departing and arriving at an airport. Airbus Series Evolution Vol.1 allows you to select and follow SID and STAR procedures from a database that covers most of the airports in the world. You can also modify or delete SID and STAR waypoints using the MCDU.


TCAS

It is integrated with the ND and shows the relative position, altitude, speed, and direction of other aircraft. It also provides audio and visual alerts and resolution advisories (RA) that instruct you to climb or descend to avoid a collision.


GPWS




GPWS (ground proximity warning system) is a system that warns you of potential hazards such as terrain, obstacles, or runway proximity. It is integrated with the primary flight display (PFD) and provides audio and visual alerts such as "pull up", "terrain", "sink rate", "too low gear", "too low flaps", etc.


Fly-by-Wire




Fly-by-wire is a system that replaces the conventional mechanical linkages between the flight controls and the control surfaces with electronic signals. It allows for more precise and efficient control of the aircraft and reduces the pilot's workload. Airbus Series Evolution Vol.1 simulates the fly-by-wire system of the Airbus A320 family, which has four main features: envelope protection, load factor limitation, pitch attitude protection, and high angle of attack protection.


MCDU




MCDU (multifunction control and display unit) is a device that allows you to interact with various systems of the aircraft such as FMS, weather radar, TCAS, fuel management system, etc. It has a keyboard and a screen that displays different pages of information and options. You can use the MCDU to enter data, select modes, change settings, monitor parameters, etc.


Autopilot




The autopilot is a system that automatically controls the flight of the aircraft according to the selected modes and parameters. It is integrated with the FMS and the autothrust and provides guidance for lateral and vertical navigation. Airbus Series Evolution Vol.1 simulates the autopilot system of the Airbus A320 family, which has two channels (AP1 and AP2) that can be engaged separately or together. You can use the flight control unit (FCU) to select the autopilot modes and parameters such as speed, heading, altitude, vertical speed, etc.


Autothrust




The autothrust is a system that automatically controls the thrust of the engines according to the selected modes and parameters. It is integrated with the FMS and the autopilot and provides guidance for speed and thrust management. Airbus Series Evolution Vol.1 simulates the autothrust system of the Airbus A320 family, which has four modes: speed, mach, thrust lever angle (TLA), and thrust idle (THR IDLE). You can use the thrust levers to select the autothrust modes and parameters such as speed, mach, or TLA.


Flight Management System (FMS)




The flight management system (FMS) is a system that calculates and manages the flight plan, the performance, and the fuel of the aircraft. It is integrated with the MCDU, the ND, the PFD, the autopilot, and the autothrust. You can use the FMS to enter and modify the flight plan, select SID and STAR procedures, calculate take-off and landing data, monitor fuel consumption and weight balance, etc.


Fuel Management System (FMS)




The fuel management system (FMS) is a system that monitors and controls the fuel distribution and transfer in the aircraft. It is integrated with the MCDU, the ECAM (electronic centralized aircraft monitor), and the overhead panel. You can use the FMS to check the fuel quantity, temperature, pressure, and flow in each tank and engine. You can also use it to transfer fuel between tanks or dump fuel in case of emergency.


Electrical System




The electrical system is a system that provides power to various systems and devices in the aircraft. It consists of two engine generators, one auxiliary power unit (APU) generator, one external power source, two main AC buses, two main DC buses, two battery buses, two batteries, and several transformers and inverters. It is integrated with the ECAM and the overhead panel. You can use it to monitor and control the electrical sources, loads, and failures.


Hydraulic System




The hydraulic system is a system that provides pressure to various systems and devices in the aircraft such as flight controls, landing gear, brakes, flaps, slats, spoilers, etc. It consists of three independent circuits: green, blue, and yellow. Each circuit has its own pumps, reservoirs, accumulators, filters, valves, etc. It is integrated with the ECAM and the overhead panel. You can use it to monitor and control the hydraulic sources, pressures, and failures.


Pneumatic System




The pneumatic system is a system that provides air to various systems and devices in the aircraft such as engines, APU, air conditioning, anti-ice, etc. It consists of two engine bleed air systems, one APU bleed air system, one external air system, two cross bleed valves, two packs (air cycle machines), and several regulators and controllers. It is integrated with the ECAM and the overhead panel. You can use it to monitor and control the pneumatic sources, temperatures, and failures.


Air Conditioning System




The air conditioning system is a system that provides ventilation, heating, cooling, and pressurization to the cockpit and the cabin. It consists of two packs, two hot air valves, two trim air valves, two zone controllers, two cabin pressure controllers, and several sensors and switches. It is integrated with the ECAM and the overhead panel. You can use it to monitor and control the air conditioning modes, temperatures, flows, and failures.


Anti-Ice System




The anti-ice system is a system that prevents ice formation on various parts of the aircraft such as engines, wings, probes, windows, etc. It consists of two engine anti-ice valves, two wing anti-ice valves, three probe heat computers, and several sensors and switches. It is integrated with the ECAM and the overhead panel. You can use it to monitor and control the anti-ice modes, temperatures, and failures.


Cockpit and Cabin




Airbus Series Evolution Vol.1 offers a realistic and immersive simulation of the cockpit and the cabin of the Airbus A320 family. You will be able to enjoy the following features:


2D and 3D Cockpit




You can choose between a 2D or a 3D cockpit view depending on your preference. The 2D cockpit view provides you with a set of 2D panels that cover all the systems and instruments of the aircraft.
