the supplied remote control is pretty plain, but does offer the basic functions of the netgear stora setup cd. this also functions as a web control for the device. i also had a problem with the remote control when trying to turn the stora on and off with the supplied remote. this usually happens after hibernation. if youve never hibernated your stora youll probably be fine. but on my unit it would wake up, go through the boot sequence and then turn itself off again before i could press the power button on the remote.
