Locksmith advice for securing garage doors
Our garage is attached to the house and I keep hearing it’s one of the most common weak points for break-ins. The roller door has a motor and remote, but I don’t completely trust that as the only line of defence—especially when we’re away for more than a couple of days. I’ve been thinking about adding some kind of internal locking system or reinforcing the emergency release, and maybe even upgrading the internal door to the house with a proper deadbolt. I came across this Melbourne locksmith service: and wondered if anyone here has worked with them or has tips on what really works to keep a garage from becoming the easiest entry point.

Good instincts. Add a manual slide bolt or lockable latch on the inside so you can secure it when you’re home or away long-term. A shield over the emergency release cord stops it from being fished from outside. Treat the internal door to the house like an exterior door—fit a deadbolt. If the roller door rattles, it might need an alignment or tension tune so it seats fully. I also like motion-activated lighting inside so you notice movement when you arrive.
