The Tassimo Hot Beverage System is a consumer single-serve coffee system that prepares one-cup servings of espresso, regular coffee, tea, hot chocolate and various other coffee drinks, notably those including milk such as latte or cappuccino. The brand is owned by JDE Peet's in most of the world and Kraft Heinz in North America.

The machines were originally developed by Kraft Foods. The original machines were manufactured by Saeco and distributed by Braun. In early 2008, Procter & Gamble, the parent company of Braun, began phasing out sales of Braun kitchen appliances in North America.[1] In August 2008, it was announced the new generation of Tassimo machines would be manufactured by Bosch. At the same time, Kraft announced double-digit growth for the second quarter in a row for its Tassimo coffee T-Disc sales.

Tassimo T-Discs are currently offered under brands owned by JDE Peet's or Kraft Foods, including Gevalia, Maxwell House, Mastro Lorenzo, Nabob, Carte Noire, Jacobs, and Suchard. Not all brands are available in all markets (for example, Kraft-owned Nabob T-Discs are only available in Canada, while JDE-owned Kenco T-Discs are available in the British Isles). In some markets, Tassimo has entered into partnerships with third parties to market T-Discs from non-Kraft and non-JDE brands. In the United Kingdom, T-Discs with the Costa Coffee brand have been sold since September 2012. In Canada, T-Discs are sold under the coffee shop brands Second Cup, Tim Hortons, McCafé as well as private label supermarket brands like Irresistibles, Our Finest and President's Choice.[2][3][4]

Tassimo offers five models of single-cup coffee maker compatible with the "home-use" T-discs.[5] However the T46 and T65 are no longer offered for sale in the US. These models are the T20, T46, T47, T55 and T65.[6] While varying in price, colour, availability of filter/display they are functionally equivalent in that each maker will produce the same beverage from the same t-disc.

On 9 February 2012 about 900,000 in Canada and 835,000 coffee makers the United States were recalled after reports of the brewers spraying hot liquid, coffee grounds or tea leaves onto people.[8] Reports from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission say that there have been 140 reports on the maker, 37 of those cases involve second degree burns.[9] The Commission has also recalled 4 million T-Discs over reports that they can burst while brewing.[10]

Customers who participated in the coffee maker recall were shipped a replacement component which will help prevent the contents of a defective T-Disc from spraying if the T-Disc bursts. The component was shipped free of charge, including instructions to allow customers to insert the new component themselves.[11]

The best Tassimo machines, courtesy of the Bosch Tassimo line, are a pretty much unbeatable lineup of coffee machine options. When you buy a Tassimo coffee machine, you can also make hot chocolates with Cadbury's pods, and even have an at-home Costa caramel latte.

Tassimo sell some of the best coffee machines around. Not only are the options great, but Tassimo machines are also some of the most affordable pod coffee machines on the market. They come in a range of shapes and sizes though, not to mention a few different price points, but which Tassimo machine is best?

We enjoyed making our drinks as hot as we liked, as large as we liked, and as strong as we fancied. The machine also saves custom preferences, which is perfect for a house of coffee lovers. Our small appliances editor Millie gives it a 5-star review.

There's nothing like a cup of coffee to get you going in the morning, although we don't always have the time to hand craft the perfect cup. That's why a multifunctional coffee maker that brews more than just the basic drip coffee is the way to go.

Right now, one such coffee machine is on major sale at Amazon Canada. For a limited time, shoppers can save 30 per cent on the latest Tassimo TM030 Multi-Beverage Brewer, as well as up to 45% on tons of Tassimo coffee pods.

Amazon shoppers have been raving about this Tassimo coffee maker, which has racked up a 4.3-star average rating. Reviewers have called it a "great little brewer" that makes it easy to whip up cafe-worthy drinks at home.

In testing, the My Way 2 performed well, quickly making personalised coffee, frothy warm milk and hot chocolates on demand, but we did find that it had a tendency to splutter towards the end of the brewing process.

The coffee maker recall affects more than 1.7 million units sold in the United States and Canada. More than three dozen people, including a 10-year-old Minnesota girl, suffered second-degree burns linked to the coffee makers, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said.

The problem lies in a plastic disc, called a T-disc, that holds the single serving of coffee or tea. The disc "can burst and spray hot liquid and coffee grounds or tea leaves onto consumers" and bystanders, the Commission warned.

That's why 4 million packages of Tassimo espresso T-discs are also being recalled. The discs can become clogged and cause coffee makers to spray hot liquids and grounds; 21 people have been burned, including a 2-year-old girl in Canada, the agency said.

The is Tassimo's mid-range single-cup brewer, retailing around $140. The Tassimo brand seems to value coffee quality over all else, which causes this machine to actually have fewer features than other brewers at its price point. Unlike competing pod coffee systems, the only provides one size setting, so users don't inadvertently dilute their brew. The T-disc system is a mix of cup customization and copy protection that isn't exactly user friendly, but it's hard to argue with the results. If you're a home user that values quality over speed the might be the right option for you.

Our refractometer measured the 's brew with a total dissolved solids (TDS) measurement of 1.21. This is significantly stronger than you'll find in most other one-cup devices. The is still slightly towards the weak and bitter corner of the standard, but the average K-cup machine would be almost off the chart to the lower left. If you value a strong cup of coffee, the will be happy to oblige. More on how we test the brewing process.

If you're looking for a quick cup, the isn't the best. It takes about 90 seconds for a cup to finish brewing, but we found that can vary quite a bit depending on when those last few drips stop. The average Keurig in this price range can make about two and a half cups in about that time. Still, if you're willing to wait the minute, you'll net a much stronger cup of coffee with the .

The can only produce one quantity of coffee, about 7.61 fl. oz. (225 ml). While other one-cup devices give users a bit more freedom to choose how much coffee they want, this restriction allows the machine to produce a strong cup of coffee every time.

This is the battle of the at-home and in-office titans. The lets you customize a cup, brews it quickly, and can brew cups pretty much continuously until the reservoir runs out. The takes a longer time to brew, has only one cup size, and makes a strong cup of coffee. Both are good devices, but both have a realm in which they excel.

The is a lot less expensive than the , but it underperforms across the board. While the is slower than some Keurig machines, the takes almost twice as long to brew a significantly weaker cup. If you're looking for a bargain, the will provide the baseline pod coffee experience. If you want a strong cup, you should check out the .

The has some great features, makes a strong brew, and has some slightly awkward aspects. We liked the water filtration system and its ability to brew a strong cup of coffee. We also liked its menu screen, as it helped clear up some of the more nebulous issues (like a fogged sensor) we ran into with the Tassimo T45. 041b061a72
